Here we have a “His Master’s Voice” gramophone needle tin, featuring Nipper the dog and a wind-up gramophone player.
This famous trademark was from a painting produced in 1898.
This tiny yellow tone tin would have contained half tone needles.
measure approximately 4cm x 3cm.
This tin originally used to have approximately 200 needles, now it has a few of them. It has the original paper inside that reads “Use each point once ONLY”.
His Master’s Voice, is a trademark in the music business, and for many years was the name of a large record label. The name was coined in 1898 as the title of a painting of the dog Nipper listening to a wind-up gramophone.
